These are my experiences in community service in Brazil and my views on the country, community, education and life.
Business Consultant, ITEVA (The Advanced Technological and Vocational Institute, Brazil)
Deployed as IBM's top talent to Brazil's State of Fortaleza as part of IBM Corporate Service Corp (CSC) inspired by the Peace Corp. The assignment objectives were to collaborate with governments, NGOs and communities in emerging markets, to help bring about meaningful and sustainable changes, but also have developed the capabilities of emerging leaders and built lasting relationships with clients around the world.As business consultants, we focus covered Smarter Cities, corporate social responsibilities, issue-based consulting, consulting in developing markets, international leadership and team building.
The NGO of focus was ITEVA (The Advanced Technological and Vocational Institute) in the city of Aquiraz, in the North-eastern state of Ceara, Brazil). The project covered building a growth strategy, business plan, customer segmentation, customer loyalty, pricing, go to market, marketing and promotions, social media, human resource and organization structure and information technology plan.

Cultural Exchange by Department of Education of Aquiraz & ITEVA

Cultural Exchange Seminar Brings Speakers from Turkey & Singapore

Anne Phey, of Singapore, said she hoped the Aquiraz youths will seize technology as a means to help themselves succeed personally and professionally. She shared about her professional experiences, about the Singaporean culture and realities, aimed at motivating the youths to pursue technology to establish themselves as individuals and professionals in any field they choose.

Cultural Exchange With Speakers from Turkey & Singapore

The Department of Education Aquiraz promoted a culatural exchange with 120 students and 20 teachers with two IBM executives. Present were CEO of ITEVA Fabio Benducci, Secretary of Education for Aquiraz Terezinha Nehterlands, municipal secretaries for Sports and Youth Andre Luis, Culture Rudolf Strong, Tourism Milena (deputy). The Advisor of Political Affairs and Institutional Aquiraz, Jair Silva, said that the mayor Guimarães has facilitated the entry of knowledge that will grow the young population of Aquiraz and the exchange of knowledge with professionals from IBM, has increased the vocation that many already have the right to use technology to improve their lives. Anne Phey, of Singapore, shared about her professional, personal, cultural aspects. She likened technology to the Brazilian beach surfs, where one must venture out to try. Initially one may be swallowed by the waves as it is new, but over time, one can surf above the waves. So it is with technology. Start with ITEVA who can empower the teachers and students with technological resources.
